No longer do I have to sweep stairwells, do fod walks, clean up after dirty NCOs. Never again will I have to do dumb bullshit...no wait...that's not true...I'm still in the Honor Guard...but I'm off dorm management!! I'm back on ceremonies...strangely enough.
Out of nowhere Wednesday I get called into the Shirt's office...and this is what he says: "They want you back on flight." That's all, not congratulations, not hey guess what, good news, you're going back to work. Not - We decided to let you back on flight...no..."THEY want you back on flight." Thanks dude, I can feel the love. Apparently it wasn't his call. Irregardless, I am back doing ceremonies, and finding new and more exciting things to bitch about.
Like tomorrow. Bitchfest. I have a 0415 rehearsal for a job on Monday - a day the rest of the world will have off. Then, a 1015 Arrival ceremony for the CHOD of Italy. Yes that says CHOD, say it with a long O, it sounds funnier. (we're easily amused) Wait I'm not done, then I have a 1300 SHF. All in all that doesn't sound that bad to an outside person. Lemme break it down for you. I will be standing for a grand total of probably 4 hours. That's a long time to be not only on your feet, but not moving a muscle. Take into consideration I haven't done this in over 2 months, and you've got yourself a recipe for disaster/flaking. I do have to hand it to the people that are on the flags out thing tonight though...you're day is gonna suck more than mine...they aren't getting off till 2300 tonight...and then they're on the same shit as me tomorrow.
Today wouldn't have been so bad; all we had was a squadron photo with Johnny P, and then a 1300 SHF, if it hadn't been for the line scheduling hooked me up with. Thanks guys. I swear to you, there were only 2 people on that line that were qualified when I left 2 months ago. I didn't even know one guy's name. What am I supposed to do with that? They didn't sound horrible, but damn. I've been in the Honor Guard longer than they've been out of high school.
Now that I got that out...I'm out of things to say. I'll close with this:
I am glad to be back on flight, despite my bitching...that's just what I do. I would not wish dorm management on anyone...except my enemies, yes that's plural, there's a few, so what. That job sucked...although it was easy to do with a hangover. I know from experience that standing in the sun for hours on end is not easily accomplished with a hangover, and everyone around you has to smell what you drank the night before as it seeps through your pores. Ewe gross. Also the clinic doesn't give quarters for mystery stomach aches when your BAC is .15 - or so I heard. Why is Vanna being more annoying than usual right now? (random thought) Anyways - that's all I got folks...until next time...
